By the light of an argent moon, I sit in the dark with my cat Quiet Rustle, looking out at the drive way and yard. Many times we’ve done this, late at night when we can’t sleep. The difference is of course I should be sleeping and Quiet Rustle is on patrol!!!
In those wee hours, the neighborhood is quiet and my car sits idle in the moonlight. Quiet Rustle is focused on what could be a tuft of grass or a bunny standing still near the garden. Only patience will tell. Rustle stays focused and my sleepy mind wanders: I think about lost loved ones. I think about the other side of the Earth where the sun is shining right at that moment, and furious human activity rages on until the day is over and people get exhausted and go to sleep.
Except for Quiet Rustle and me.
Eventually, I start to doze and decide to go to bed. I have work in a few hours. Quiet Rustle stays up. His first nap of the upcoming day is scheduled at 9 AM!!!
