The other morning, I was stuck in traffic in the hospital district. Boston is famous for having some of the best hospitals in the world, and I was thinking about that as I sat in my car going no where at 7 in the morning. Then I realized I was right in front of the Mission Hill Church. In a little bit of irony, the basilica is on a hill that overlooks the prestigious medical research institutions.
Should I stop and say a prayer? Should people do that anymore? I spotted an open spot, parked the car an went inside. The basilica was mostly dark, except for lights shining on the tabernacle and a shrine to Mary. There were a few people praying the rosary. I said a prayer and reflected on the coming of Christmas.
Then it was back to the traffic jam!
